Julie (Sheline) Chambers began studying music as a young elementary student studying piano, singing in choirs, and performing in band. She continued her study of piano and voice throughout school and was led to study music education at Capital University. At Capital she studied voice, piano, and organ. She also took an opportunity to study abroad at the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary. Zoltan Kodaly was an incredible musician, composer, music pedagogue/philosopher. He developed an incredible philosophy to teaching music that emphasizes training the whole musician to read, write, hear, perform, understand, and appreciate music. From this philosophy, she places a strong emphasis in ear training, sight-reading, technique, performance, and joy of music.
After Capital, Julie began teaching vocal music in the New Lexington City School District and piano through her own studio. During her time there she completed her masters degree from Capital University with Kodaly Certification. She also took a year leave of absence to study music in Hungary for the second time. There Miss Julie returned to the essentials; she studied musicianship and ear training, piano, voice, score reading, conducting, methodology, choir, and music history all at her level to polish her own musicianship. Now that Julie has returned to America, she wants to share her knowledge and experience with students of all ages.
